Return to Outreach overview >Apprenticeships
Tarragon Theatre has two apprenticeship programs. These are designed
for interested candidates who have completed post-secondary training and
who are looking to gain experience in the arts in a learning environment.
Apprenticeship in Stage Management
Each season Tarragon hires 2 apprentice stage managers for our 5 Mainspace productions. These positions are filled by candidates with a very strong interest in becoming stage managers as members of Canadian Actors Equity Association. A certain number of credits in apprenticeship are required to join the association and they must be obtained through Equity accredited productions.
Tarragon provides this opportunity to accumulate credits in a good working environment and an even better learning environment. This apprenticeship program is designed to give individuals an opportunity to further their stage management skills while working on a full-scale production.
Requirements include:
* university or college courses in technical theatre and stage management
and preferably a degree or diploma from a theatre program
* stage management experience from a post secondary institution or a professional
or non-professional theatre company
* a keen interest in the stage management field and a strong understanding
of the necessary skills required for the position
* the ability to work well in a creative environment
* the ability to learn from their mentors and apply that knowledge on
subsequent productions
Please forward resumes to Tarragon Theatre c/o Michael Freeman, production manager via e-mail to michaelf @ tarragontheatre.com.
For 2007/08 season submissions, the deadline is May 21, 2007.
Successful candidates will be contacted for an interview in June. No phone calls please.
