Spring Training Project

Every spring we offer the Tarragon Theatre Spring Training Project – now in its 18th year! We select a group of talented young people, aged 15 - 18, through an audition process to participate in this FREE program. Participants experience an intensive five-day acting training led by professionals in the field during March Break. This training will prepare them to workshop and rehearse the one-act plays that have been written and developed by the Young Playwrights Unit every Saturday afternoon from mid-March to mid-May. In the middle of May rehearsals are also held after school to prepare the one act plays written by Tarragon's Young Playwrights Unit, which students will perform at the end of the program. One post-mortem class will follow the Fair in early June.

PLEASE NOTE: This program requires a high level of commitment.

Students interested in the program must send in an application form, a 25-word description of what they hope to achieve and one letter of recommendation, c/o Spring Training Project, to the Education and Outreach department at Tarragon Theatre no later than December 14, 2007. Each person who applies will be invited to a meeting with the program director at which time they will be asked to perform a short published monologue of their choice and discuss their interest in theatre.

The program is FREE and admits 12-15 participants each year.

"The Spring Training Project allowed me to have an intense and memorable theatre experience, encouraging me to pursue my love for drama."
Sandra Berjan, Spring Training participant 2002
