Spring Training Project

Every spring we offer the Tarragon Theatre Spring Training Project — now in its 19th year! We select a group of talented young people, aged 15 - 18, through an audition process to participate in this FREE program.

Participants experience an intensive five-day acting training led by professionals in the field during March Break. Then they workshop and rehearse the one-act plays that have been written and developed by the Young Playwrights Unit every Saturday afternoon from mid-March to mid-May. In the middle of May rehearsals are also held after school to prepare for the One Act Play Festival on May 30-31, 2009.

Students interested in the program must send in an application form, a 25-word description of what they hope to achieve and one letter of recommendation, c/o Spring Training Project, to the Education and Outreach department at Tarragon Theatre no later than December 11, 2009. Students will be invited to Tarragon for an interview and audition where they will be asked to perform a short published monologue of their choice and discuss their interest in theatre.

Please note: This program requires a high level of commitment and admits 12-15 participants each year.

The program is FREE and admits 12-15 participants each year.

What surprised me most about STP was the comfortable atmosphere where students, who had no previous experience in acting or performing could feel free to express themselves and have fun. The eagerness of the students and the willingness to convey ideas and try new things was amazing to see. Kyle Orzech

Sensuality. Romance. Drama. This program has it all. The minimalist, highly-inspired setting of the Tarragon provided the backdrop for a wondrous training program full of self-discovery and fresh, exciting experiences. Fan Wu
