Rocking The Cradle

by Des Walsh
freely adapted from Lorca’s Yerma
directed by Richard Rose

Toronto Premiere
An RCA Theatre Company Production (St. John’s, NL)

When Joan marries Vince in a small Newfoundland outport she has great dreams for their future together. Vince has his own plans, but Joan is determined to win him over, whatever the cost. Featuring East Coast music, biting humour and poetic storytelling, this is a gripping portrait of a woman driven to extremes.

Notes

Acclaimed poet, playwright and writer of Random Passage and co-writer of the award winning Boys of St. Vincent, Des Walsh evokes Lorca’s world along with the one he knows best – that of a small Newfoundland outport, with all its charms and foibles.
