Richard III runs March 2-13 at the Tarragon Theatre Workspace.
Toronto’s newest indie Shakespeare company, Wolf Manor Theatre Collective, takes the stage in the brand-new Tarragon Theatre Workspace with Richard III, a compelling history of the reign of the villain king, his ascent to the throne, and the dynamics of family, war, and power. After their My Entertainment World Award-nominated run of Macbeth in 2015, Wolf Manor returns with a fresh, new take on this Shakespearean classic.
This production of Richard III stars Toronto stage favourite Jeff Hanson (Red One Theatre Collective’s The Castle, Shakespeare BASH’d’s Love’s Labour’s Lost and The Taming of the Shrew, Classical Theatre Project’s The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged) as Richard. Nikolas Nikita makes his Toronto stage debut as Lady Anne/Queen Margaret, two roles traditionally played by women but given an entirely new interpretation by this exceptionally versatile performer, winner of the Spectra Talent Showcase. Jade Douris (A Different Kind of Job at Theatre Aquarius, Hamlet, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Love’s Labour’s Lost with Shakespeare BASH’d) leads the rebel army as Richmond, and Laura Harding, making her Toronto debut after her appearance in Sheridan College’s Dora Award-winning production Brantwood, plays Queen Elizabeth. This production is directed by Mallory Fisher, co-founder of The Foundry Theatre Company in Boston, Massachusetts.
This fresh, electric, gripping story of family, power, love, and revenge will engage Toronto audiences with its bold staging and powerhouse cast.
This production is made possible by the generous support of the Tarragon Theatre Workspace. This is a Canadian Actors’ Equity Production under the Artists’ Collective Policy.
