Happy New Year from Tarragon Theatre!
In 2015 at Tarragon…

  • We celebrated our 45th anniversary of developing new plays at Tarragon
  • Audiences experienced 6 new Canadian plays having their world premieres, 2 classics re-imagined, and a special ’spontaneous theatre’ experience
  • Our productions employed 56 actors and over 80 creative and administrative team members
  • Our new Workspace program provided 1500+ hours of free rehearsal space and artistic support for the development of 21 new theatre projects
  • 10 Playwrights received grants to support the development of their new plays
  • Hannah Moscovitch’s Infinity, which had its world premiere at Tarragon in the Extraspace, won the Dora Award for Best New Play
  • Playwright-in-Residence David Yee won the Governor General’s Literary Award for his play carried away on the crest of a wave
  • Playwright-in-Residence Kate Cayley won the Trillium Book Award for her short story collection When You Were Born
  • Our new ‘First Preview’ program invited hundreds of community members who might not otherwise have access to attend a show at Tarragon for free
  • Hundreds of students from colleges, universities and secondary schools attended plays this season and benefitted from extended educational programming including workshops, talkbacks, and in-depth conversations with Tarragon artists
