Allen Booth

Allen has composed and produced many scores for television, film, radio and stage, including East Side Showdown (CBC TV’s Witness series), Global Raiders (BBC documentary), Our Hiroshima (Vision and NHK in Japan), Material World (CBC sitcom), The Journal (CBC News), Sanity Clause (CBC TV Movie starring Louis Del Grande), and the Governor General’s Award winning play Harlem Duet (produced in Toronto, New York, the Stratford Festival, and now at Tarragon Theatre). Allen also produced music for two short films by Ramiro Puerta – Crossroads and Topic of Cancer – both hits at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Allen has composed two albums of songs for children: Lullabies and Playsongs, and Winterlong, both with lyrics by award-winning poet Robert Priest. Several of these songs backed music videos on Sesame Street.

In the 1980s Allen fronted a rock band called Only Human.

Allen also writes television dramas and documentaries, and creates web and mobile applications. He recently wrote a feature-length documentary Shadow of Gold to be broadcast by Arte (Europe) in November 2018, and he recently co-produced a mobile app called Risk Navigator – a companion piece for the TVO/Kensington documentary Risk Factor.
