All Most Be Longing (Staged Reading)

in the Workspace

All Most Be Longing is a work in progress by award winning playwright, Andrea Scott that’s being directed by Nina Lee Aquino. Started as a 12 minute piece at Wrecking Ball #18 in 2015 it has evolved into a full length play about the immigrants that helped to build this city. Starting with the Anti-Greek riots of 1918, lynchings in the US South and the Irish Easter Rising it evolves into an examination of police brutality, the nursing crisis and the mental health epidemic facing black men with St. Michael’s Hospital as a silent observer. This is a Greek Tragedy about the black man and it’s about time. November 6, 2pm at the Tarragon Theatre Workspace (upstairs).

On one of the hottest days of the year Toronto exploded into the largest anti Greek riots in history. Lasting 3 days and causing 1 million dollars in damages to Greek owned businesses, the public’s anger changed the Toronto landscape forever. Trapped in a small restaurant on Yonge street is a disparate group of unlikely allies against the mob outside. Over the course of 100 minutes and 100 years we see how the public turns its rage on various groups who eventually become the status quo. How can one belong when held at arm’s length?

“I want to see whatever she’s writing” Tony Kushner pointing to Andrea Scott on May 9, 2016
