Frances Koncan (she/her) is a playwright, director and journalist of mixed Anishinaabe and Slovene descent originally from Couchiching First Nation in Treaty 3 territory and currently based in Winnipeg, MB in Treaty 1 territory. After graduating with an MFA in Playwriting from Brooklyn College, she returned to Winnipeg (because her F1 Student Visa expired and she wanted access to universal healthcare) and has been making both good theatre and bad theatre ever since. Stage and screen credits include: as a performer on a single episode of “Inside Amy Schumer” (Comedy Central), as a writer for two seasons of “THAT’S AWSM!” (APTN), or as the writer of the best review of the cinematic masterpiece that was “CATS”, as seen in the Winnipeg Free Press. But probably not. She is currently artistic director of Sarasvati Productions and her dream is to write Hallmark films.
