Jesse Clark is a graduate of Queen’s University (BAH English), and the University of Toronto (Mus. Op. Dip.). He has been a fellow at the Britten-Pears School, and the Tanglewood, Ravinia and Marlboro Festivals. Recent engagements include Henry Cuffe in Britten’s Gloriana for the Aldeburgh Festival, conducted by the late Richard Hickox, which was recorded by the BBC, Schaunard in Puccini’s La Bohème with Opera Saskatoon, and the role of Le Berger in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande for the Canadian Opera Company, while also understudying the role of Pelléas. Jesse made his Toronto Symphony Orchestra debut singing in a “Last Night at the Proms” program, and returned to the COC to sing the role of the Aide-de-Camp to Prince Eugene in Prokofiev’s War and Peace. He has been seen as Lord Mountjoy in Britten’s Gloriana (Opera in Concert), as baritone soloist singing a program of Rogers and Hammerstein (Brantford Symphony), and in a staged concert of Gilbert and Sullivan favourites (Bach Elgar Choir). Jesse currently lives in Toronto with his wife and three sons.
