Urjo Kareda Residency Grant for an Emerging Theatre Artist
The Urjo Kareda Residency Grant supports the training and artistic residency of an exceptional emerging theatre artist each season at Tarragon Theatre.
This $15,000 grant is made possible by an annual donation from The Youssef-Warren Foundation and allows the successful applicant to spend up to 20 weeks at the Tarragon Theatre, working in collaboration with an artist or artists in the applicant’s chosen field of interest.
Led by theatre artists who are experienced youth facilitators, these workshops provide opportunities for you and your students to deepen and further your in class learning. Tarragon is excited to offer online / digital workshops as well as in person programming for you and your students.
Possibilities from the Future
In this bold initiative Tarragon is offering unique access to the creative process of Canadian playwrights from inspiration to page. Featuring a five minute playlet read by the playwright themselves, a breakdown of where their inspiration stemmed from, and a deep dive into the process of researching and creating each piece, students will get a behind the scenes look at the works of the artists.
The Scarborough Project
Led by theatre artists who are experienced youth facilitators, these workshops provide opportunities for you and your students to deepen and further your in class learning. Starting in Fall of 2020 Tarragon is excited to offer online / digital workshops for you and your students.
Young Playwrights Unit
The Young Playwrights Unit (YPU) is a FREE training experience for young people who are curious and passionate about play-making. We take a page from our professional play development programs to offer a group of dedicated young creators a rigorous context in which to develop some of their first works.
